Promoted ‘PLUS SEOUL Package’ to attract high value MICE events

Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Tourism Organization attended the ont of the world’s largest MICE exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany, and conducted a massive marketing campaign that included ‘PLUS SEOUL Package.’

IMEX attracts key figures who hold large conferences abroad and incentive tours. The event marked its 15th edition this year.

In this exhibition, Seoul Metropolitan Government worked with six Seoul MICE Alliance members including the COEX Convention Center and Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas to run a promotional booth for the city. They presented joint marketing proposals to global MICE hosts and other key figures. In addition, events were held to promote the city’s diverse appeal such as a VR(Virtual Reality) experience, Polaroid session with a traditional Korean military attaché and stone rubbing. These activities proved to be a hit with attendees.

On the first day of the exhibition, key figures from Europe, the U.S. and MICE–focused media were invited for a Seoul briefing and dinner called “An Evening with Seoul.” Prior to the presentation, a 30-minute networking session was held between domestic and global participants during the business reception. Aside from the key figures from Europe and the U.S., other significant figures from international associations such as UIA, ICCA and PCMA attended to create an exciting atmosphere for the presentation.

The presentation featured Seoullo 7017, the innovative tourist park site in Seoul that opened May 20, as well as other spots to promote Seoul as the ideal MICE city with abundant infrastructure. PLUS SEOUL, a new MICE integrated support package, was also introduced. Overall, the networking sessions and Seoul’s MICE promotional efforts led to a high level of satisfaction expressed by domestic and foreign partners.

During the IMEX, Seoul Tourism Organization conducted 46 counseling sessions to attract 14 new cases: 12 from international associations and two corporate meeting incentives. Through this development, 18,623 MICE visitors are expected to come Seoul. The plan is to focus efforts on making sure that the events are successfully hosted through continuous management of the buyers.
