‘Seoul experience’ unfolded at Han River

– Executives and employees of Joy Main group enjoyed the ‘Samgyetang (Ginseng chicken soup) Party’ alongside Seoul’s iconic Han River
– Additional events were held such as Korean traditional culture, street food, etc.

While 8,000 executives and employees of Joy Main group of China attracted keen public attention while they visited Seoul as part of an incentive tour program, a grand scale samgyetang party and additional events were held at Banpo Hangang Park, Seoul.

Executives and employees of Joy Main group arrived in Korea by 34 flights in total, from May 5 and May 9, in two groups of 4,000 persons. They were historically the largest single tourist group using air travel to visit Seoul. They visited major tourist attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Dongdaemun, Cheonggyecheon Stream, Myeong-dong, Imjin-Gak, Everland etc.

During this period, Seoul city established a dinner venue three times the size of a football stadium to hold the ‘Chicken Soup with Ginseng Party’ on May 6 and 10, respectively, at Banpo Hangang Park Moonlight plaza. After the dinner, a mini-concert was held featuring the original sound track of the Korean TV drama, ‘Descendants of the Sun.’

The tourists arrived in more than 100 tour buses at Banpo Hangang Park, and had their own experiences of ‘Korean street food’ from 10 food trucks for Korean seed pancakes, snacks, steak, octopus skewers, and hotdogs, etc. Chinese Seoul MICE Supporters were allocated to each of the experience booths and food trucks to facilitate fluent communication with employees of the Joy Main Group.

After enjoying the street food, the tourists had their firsthand experiences of the city, participating in experience programs on playing traditional games like jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock game), ddakjichigi (A game of slap-match), tuho (Throwing sticks into a canister), making norigae charms (Korean traditional ornaments worn by women), or taking pictures of Seoul with operators in traditional Korean costumes, as well as in variety of events like sending complimentary Seoul postcards, face painting, and Hangeul calligraphy.

The Welcoming ceremony was held with the cooperation of the central government and private organizations committed to nurturing the Korean tourism industry such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Korea Broiler Council Foundation, Korea Tourism Organization, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Seoul Tourism Organization Co., Ltd., etc.

At the dinner, chicken soup with ginseng was served for 4,000 persons, and 4,000 cans of beer, Baekseju, Kimchi, Red ginseng products etc. were provided. The pre-cooked retort chicken soup with ginseng was heated on the brazier on the food truck and then it was poured into earthen bowls. From 7.30 p.m. after dinner, the ‘Descendants of the Sun’’ OST performance was held with the appearance of idol groups, K.will and Gummy.
