27 Dec Seoul MICE Alliance Awarded the President of Korea National Tourism Organization’s Prize at the ‘2016 Korea MICE Awards’
The Seoul MICE Alliance of the Seoul Tourism Organization Convention Bureau was awarded the president’s prize of the Korea National Tourism Organization of ‘the 2016 Korea MICE Awards Excellent MICE Alliance Section’ at the ‘2016 Korea MICE Alliance Conference & Awards’ held at Gyeong-ju Hwabaek Center last Dec. In particular, the alliance was recognized for their ability to attract international meetings by expending member companies and strengthening cooperation.
The Seoul MICE Alliance has played a huge role in helping achieve its third place standing as a top international meetings city , according to the Union of International Associations (UIA), as Seoul attracted a total of 118 meetings and 79,888 participants according to the 2015 UIA report. The Seoul MICE Alliance has continued to strengthen in numbers annually and they now have a total of 230 member companies as of this year. This represents a15% increase from 195 member companies last year. In addition to their numbers, they have continued to strengthen their cooperation in attracting business events by participating with Seoul in major MICE exhibitions, joint advertising and promotional activities, helping sponsor site visits, and supporting familiarization tours and continuing to expand Seoul’s MICE support services.
In recognition of their success the past year, the Seoul MICE Alliance was awarded the ‘Excellent MICE Alliance’ award at this year’s ‘Korea MICE Awards,’ now in its 10th year, and hosted by the Korea National Tourism Organization and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This awards ceremony is awarded by the Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the president of the Korea National Tourism Organization to recognize groups and individuals that contribute to the MICE industry’s growth.
The annual Korea MICE Awards also offers a networking opportunity for distinguished individuals from the business, academic, and governmental fields related to the MICE industry. At this year’s awards, various events such as a global session, local MICE forums, and a policy discussion were held.
